President Jacob Zuma has offered his condolences to the family of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un after he expressed sorrow over the abduction of his wife last weekend.
North Korea carried out the abduction in a brutal act of international terrorism, the president said.
The statement was made by President Zuma after meeting his counterpart in Washington, Barack Obama, on Thursday.
Speaking at a separate business meeting in the South African town of KwaZulu-Natal on Thursday, President Zuma said the kidnapping of Kim Jong-un’s wife by Islamic State was an “indefensible act”.
“Let us not forget: North Korea carried out a violent and cowardly act of internat우리카지노ional terrorism that killed its own people,” he said.
“We have lost contact with our leader, with our leader’s wife and his children over the last few days.
“That is very sad for us. Her death may have been one final act by North Korea before their nuclear weapon program reaches critical levels.”
North Korea claims it acted to help her return to her family as North Korea launches nuclear test – but experts say there is no sign of any evidence of this.
A separate spokesman for the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, meanwhile, said he believed an attack was the only possibility.
“We have no other inform우리카지노ation at this time as we are still working with the US authorities,” Kim Min-seok told reporters, according to state news agency KCNA.
